Blog Day 10
Today we went over our whole project and all of our diagrams that we have. We are about 95% finished with everything and just have to put some finishing touches in our presentation. We think our presentation is going to go well and we feel that we are well prepared at this point.

Blog Day 9
Today we started work on a general layout for the poster board. The poster board will have the information about the physics of jets on it. We also put the finishing touches on the powerpoint presentation which will include videos and pictures.

Blog Day 8
Today we worked on our powerpoint and add more detail to it. We learned how to add videos onto the powerpoint and we added pictures of the sr-71 BlackBird. Taylor is almost finished with the putting the model together and should be done by this week. I(Zack) have almost finished the poster. I need to research a little more on the BlackBird and get more supplies for the poster. Alex is still working on the powerpoint and should be done by this week also. Our project is going better than we expected and hope everyone enjoys it!

Blog Day 7
Blog Day 7,
As of today, we are on track of getting our project finished. I(Taylor) have the model about half way finished and it should be done in a week. Zack has bought all of the poster board supplies and plans to finish the poster/visual within the next week or so. Alex has started the powerpoint presentation with the video and pictures. We are excited to see how our project will present in class. Everything seems like it will go well. Best of luck to us!

Blog day 6
Today as we did more reasearch on the sr-71 Blackbird, we learned that the onl fuel blackbird's could us is a low vapopr pressure fuel that would not boil over 300 degeress farenheit. This fuel is called jp-7 which is the only fuel that is used by the blackbird. We also learned that the BlackBird keeps accelerating and accelerating until it reches mach 3.

Blog Day 5
For our presentation, we are going to use a poster, powerpoint, and a model of the black bird.
Zack- make the poster and develop it.
Taylor-Build the model of the BlackBird.
Alex- Make the poerpoint.

Blog Day 4
Today we watched a video on the SR-71. We learned that the tempature effects evrything on the plane. The faster the plane goes, the hotter it gets. The plane is made out of 90% titanium. The C.I.A. buys the titanium from the soviet union. The titanium skin on the plane reaches up to 1,000 degrees farenheit, which causes the plane to expand about a half a foot. The plane has to go through a heating and recooling process when it lands to put the plane back in its original shape. The SR-71 has unsealed fuel tanks to keep the plane cool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_-mCPA_Gk0

Blog Day 3

Day 3. Today we learned that the takeoff speed of a SR-71 Blackbird is 241.7mph (210knots). 1knot = 1.15mph. We also learned that the landing speed is 172.6 to 178.4mph (150 to155knots). The runwasy for the Blackbird would have to be over 2 miles long for it to be able to takeoff and land. When the Blackbird lands, it would deploy a parachute to slow it down.

Blog Day 2

Day 2
Today we looked into the physics on how a plane or jet flies. We learned how a jet uses thrust with upwash and downwash to change direction. Also, we learned that Newton's first law relates with the jet's flight. The law states a body at rest will remain at rest, or a body in motion will continue in straight-line motion unless subjected to an external applied force.

Blog Day 1
,
Day 1. Today we learned that a jet engine, called a gas turbines, sucks in air through a fan which is sprayed by fuel and electric spark lights that mix.The gas expands through the nossel in the back of the engine, then thrusts forward. This operation relates to the Newton's thrid Law. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
